Love

Give thanks always.

…and give thanks in all circumstances…

How are you today?

I am greatly convinced that there are some conversations you have, which send chills down your spine, right? Some conversations which make you sit down and ponder. I am not sure though what you end up pondering on, what I know is that they stir up something in the inside of you. Something you had not known existed in you. Just think about one of those conversations. What is it that ‘struck’ you?

What struck you like lightning😂?!

So…on this day (not today), I talk to an awesome friend I have known for a while. Alright, I’ll call this friend Inspiration, because that is who she is. She is one of the strongest people you definitely want to hear from. She is the kind of people you would listen to for a day and still want to hear more from them.

Are you at a place in life where you want to stop? Where you want to give up on your progress this far? Where you are not sure anymore that God is good? Then you have to hold on, to hold up and listen to her story as she tells it one of these days because her life is a testimony. A great testimony of the goodness of God. A testimony that God will never leave you nor forsake you at any point in this life.

Here is a glimpse of what Inspiration told me;

“I am improving everyday. My eyes are still recovering. It has been a journey and I thank God everyday because honestly, I never thought my life would turn out this way.”…”After the eye surgeries I did last year, I have at least moved from being blind to being low visioned…My eyes are a bit weak but this right eye is coming up.  It is really a complicated situation. I also get limited while doing some of the normal and simple things I would do before. Things have really changed.”
“Thank God for your health and body everyday!!”

Her last statement is what ‘struck’ me. It is what I am pondering on. It is what we are talking about now. Being thankful. How many times do you look around you, at the things you have, your achievements or the people in your life, and are grateful? How often do you appreciate even the smallest of efforts someone else makes for your benefit? Do you thank God for everything you have? For the blessing of life and health?

…And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks for this is God’s plan for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 TPT

Wait, did you notice that it is in the midst of everything? At all circumstances? We ought to give thanks always. Does that mean in the good times? On the days you enjoy the best of everything? Yes it does. Is it inclusive of the days when everything is all messed up? Days when your medical results confirm you are positive? Days when you don’t even know what to do? Yes, even then should you give thanks.

But why?

This is because :

  • The one who calls you is faithful and He will thoroughly complete His work in you. Remember, God created you for good works. He will not leave you halfway. He will never forsake you.
  • God is good and His unconditional love endures forever. His love and kindness is what draws people to repentance. It is what causes transformation.
  • God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you could ever think, according to the power that works in you. He changes all those circumstances.
  • You are assured that joy comes no matter how long weeping lasts. And this joy is what strengthens you. This joy keeps you moving.

Being thankful, just like any other art, is built up progressively. It all starts when you learn to appreciate the smallest of all blessings in your life. When you acknowledge that every good and perfect gift in our life is from God.

Being thankful reminds you to focus on the good that is happening in your life and around you, knowing that God is causing all things to work together for your good. Remember, He is able to turn all mourning into dancing and all sorrow into joy. This results to living a happy and more content life. And what more would anyone ask for, if not such a life?

Every thing is working. All things are turning around for your good, because you love God and He loves you.

See!

Thank God for your health. Thank Him for your body. Thank Him for that situation you are in now, because He is with you all along. Thank Him for His love. Thank Him because He is always true to His Word. Thank Him because if He said it according to His Word, then He’ll do it for He watches over what He’s said to bring to pass. In all this, have your trust in Him. Waver not!
